Wild Things Finland’s water plant is located in Oripää,  a well-known premium water area in Finland, where our water has been naturally filtered for 12,500 years, since the last ice age.

Thanks to the natural filtration process, our water is superior. It is naturally alkaline (PH 8.3) and contains an ideal amount of various minerals necessary for life (TDS 77).

High alkaline water

When evaluating the quality of drinking water with numbers, two values rise above others.

TDS – Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) refers to the number of minerals, metals, organic material, and salts that are dissolved in drinking water by molecular, ionized, or micro-granular processes. The dissolved solids present in the water affect its taste. According to many studies with professional tasters, TDS is excellent if it’s less than 300 mg/L. Regarding taste, ideally, perfect TDS is between 50–150 mg/L. In Wild Things Water, TDS is perfect 77.

pH – Power of Hydrogen refers to a scale used to specify the acidity or basicity of an aqueous solution. The scale is 1-14 where 7 means neutral, under 7 is acidic, and over 7 is alkaline. Most bottled drinking water nowadays is acidic. When alkaline (pH over 7) substances mix with water, it accepts or absorbs hydrogen ions. By the natural filtering process, our water source is optimally alkaline. For taste and health benefits, the pH range of 8.0 to 9.0 is perfect for your drinking water. Wild Things Water is naturally alkaline with an optimal pH level of 8.3-8.5.

Traditional Chinese medicine is based on balance (YIN and YANG) and Chinese customers tend to seek alkaline water to drink to maintain this acid-alkaline balance in their body.

Wild Things Water contains a massive amount of electrolytes. These electrolytes are required for various bodily processes, including proper nerve and muscle function, maintaining acid-base balance, and keeping you hydrated.

Benefits of alkaline water

  • Alkaline water can neutralize excess acidity in the body caused by stress, eating habits and pollution.
  • By removing acidity from the body, you can reduce the body’s need to accumulate fat tissue or cholesterol, which are the body’s normal defenses against hyperacidity.
  • Alkaline water is negatively charged, and thus an antioxidant. Antioxidants reduce the damage caused by free radicals in the body.
  • Alkaline water tastes better than “regular” water and feels “softer” in the mouth.
    By using alkaline water in cooking, you can improve the taste and quality of food and drinks.
  • The negative charge of alkaline water can attract positively charged acidic waste materials in the body, and neutralize them without the body having to use its own alkaline reserves or depriving the organs or bones of minerals for this purpose.
 

Research studies

1. Helpful for Detoxification

In a 2003 study published in the journal Ambio, researchers found that alkaline water had a protective effect against mercury in 43 women who lived in an alkaline water-rich area in Sweden.

2. Weight Loss

In a 52-week study published in the International Journal of Experimental Pathology in 2001, rats that drankwater with the highest pH level lost the most weight.

3. Reduces Acid Reflux

In a 2012 laboratory study published in the journal The Annals of Otology, Rhinology, and Laryngology, researchers discovered that drinking alkaline water with a pH over 8 results in beneficial acid-buffering activity. Alkaline water also inactivates pepsin, an enzyme that plays a role in acid reflux.

4. Helps Improve Bone Health

It is thought that alkaline water is a safer dietary source of calcium than milk or dairy. In a 2009 study published in the journal Bone, researchers discovered that alkaline water significantly reduced two markers associated with bone loss—PTH and S-CTX—in 30 dieticians.

5. Antioxidant Benefits

In a 2006 study published in the journal Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, alkaline water showed potent antioxidant activity when mixed with vitamin C.

6. Heart Health

In a study published in the Shanghai Journal of Preventive Medicine, researchers found that alkaline water consumption for three to six months could significantly reduce blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol.
